US President Donald Trump signed a new decree against China. Under the decree, the US was banned from investing in Chinese companies that support the Chinese military.
In the statement of the White House regarding this new decree, it was stated that a decree was signed regarding investments in companies that provide financing to the Chinese army.
Shortly before the end of his presidency, Trump claimed that China was increasingly exploiting US capital to raise funds to develop its military and intelligence, and pointed out that this situation directly threatens the United States.
Trump argued that
China is developing the country's military industry by forcing civilian companies to support the military and intelligence activities, and that these companies are gaining capital by selling securities to U.S. investors.
Trump said, “China is using US investors to finance the development and modernization of its army in this way."
There are 31 Companies on the List
Under the decree signed by President Trump, he banned US companies or individuals from owning shares directly or through funds from Chinese factories that support the Chinese military.
It is said that the decision, which will be implemented on January 11, 2021, may affect China's large aviation, construction, technology and telecommunications companies.
In the news in the US press, it was stated that 31 Chinese companies determined by the Ministry of Defense were on the list.
It was noted that most of these companies are traded on Chinese stock exchanges, including Hong Kong. China Mobile Communications and China Telecommunications companies, which are recorded among these companies, are also traded on US stock exchanges.
