TUI Announced It Will Reduce Summer Holiday Programs
TUI announced that it will reduce its summer holiday programs. The company announced that it made this decision due to new quarantine measures.
TUI, one of the leading tourism companies in the world, will reduce the holiday programs for this summer after new quarantine measures are taken in Europe; TUI noted that as vaccination increases, holiday reservations will increase for the rest of the year.
In the statement made by
TUI, the world's largest tour operator, it was noted that up to 75 percent of the tour packages of 2019 will be sold for the high season in July. The company's previous goal was to sell packages as much as 80 percent compared to 2019, including May and June.
New quarantine measures taken in Europe and uncertainties about when travel bans will be lifted make vacation plans uncertain. While British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to postpone the reopening of flights until April 5,
Germany and France have also implemented new quarantine restrictions.
In the statement, TUI said, "If progress is made in the epidemic and the vaccination campaign, the company may increase its capacity in the short term, depending on travel bans and customer demand."
With British Prime Minister Boris Johnson previously announcing his plan for normalization of travel by air, there was an explosion in demand for reservations by EasyJet and TUI for summer vacation.
After the said announcement, EasyJet's ticket sales almost quadrupled, while TUI's bookings, which sells holiday packages to Turkey, Spain and Greece, increased 6 times.
