Turkey Lagged Behind Germany in Solar Energy
Turkey has lagged behind Germany in solar energy. Major investments to solar energy in Turkey continues while Turkey is behind Germany in this energy segment.
Turkey in January-October 2020 period increased, albeit limited share of the total capacity of solar energy, which limited the number of sunny days seem to be under Germany's share in total.
According to shared data by Turkish Electricity Transmission Co. (TEIAS), 446 new solar power plants in Turkey was commissioned between January-October. Thus, the installed power of
solar energy increased to 6 thousand 454 megawatts, while the share of the solar in total capacity has reached 6.9 percent.
According to the data shared by
TEIAS, as of 2019, the installed power in solar energy was 5 thousand 999 megawatts. In the same period, the share of the solar in the installed capacity was recorded as 6.6 percent.
Germany Prepares to Close the Year with 10 Percent Share
It has been stated that the number of sunny days in Turkey are quite a few but the share of solar energy in Germany is near 10 percent. According to the data announced by BSM, the representative organization of the solar energy sector, the share of solar energy in the total in the country in 2020 is predicted to be 10 percent for the first time. Last year, this rate was around 9 percent.
