In September, electricity consumption increased by 8.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 26 billion 145 million 944 thousand kWh, while production is increased by 8.8 percent to 26 billion 311 million 727 thousand kilowatt-hours.
While 21.1 percent of electricity production is obtained from hydroelectric power plants; 30.5 percent was obtained from natural gas power plants and 22 percent from imported coal plants. While the share of wind energy in electricity generation was 7.9 percent; The share of domestic coal power plants was 14 percent. The remaining 4.5 part was supplied from geothermal, solar, fuel oil and biomass resources.
Decrease in Electricity Imports
In the given period, Turkey's electricity imports, fell by 59.1 percent compared to the same month of the last year, declined to 97 thousand 129 million kilowatt-hours from 52 million 796 thousand kilowatt-hours.
In this month, electricity exports increased by 30 percent and reached 218 million 579 thousand kilowatt-hours. In September 2019, electricity exports were recorded as 168 million 33 thousand kilowatt-hours.
