Turkey's electricity production and consumption increased in 2020. The coronavirus outbreak has led to an increase in electricity consumption.

Turkey's Electricity Production and Consumption Increased in 2020 Turkey's electricity production and consumption increased in 2020. The coronavirus outbreak has led to an increase in electricity consumption. According to information gathered from data of Turkish Electricity Transmission Company, electricity generation and consumption increased slightly in the last year compared to the previous year. During the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, people spending more time at home and continued industrial production were a factor that increased both production and consumption. 290 billion 445 million 456 thousand kWh of electricity consumed in Turkey during 2019, this figure increased by 0.14 percent in 2020, rose to 290 billion 856 million 21 thousand kWh.   The Least Consumption Was In April Last year, the most electricity was consumed in July with 27 billion 352 million 424 thousand kilowatt-hours. The least consumption occurred in April with 19 billion 130 million 574 thousand kilowatt hours. The electricity production increased by 0.18 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year which was recorded as 291 billion 551 million 921 thousand kWh. Production was recorded as 291 billion 22 million 615 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2019.   Electricity Import and Export Decreased Turkey’s electricity export decreased by 10.9 percent compared to the previous year and recorded as 2 billion 483 million 989 thousand kilowatt-hours. This figure was recorded as 2 billion 788 million 989 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2019. Electricity imports decreased by 14.6 percent last year compared to the previous year and fell from 2 billion 211 million 506 thousand kilowatt-hours to 1 billion 888 million 92 thousand kilowatt-hours. In addition, Turkey's installed electric power as of end-November rose to 94 thousand 801 megawatts.
