Turkey's
tea export was worth $ 10.77 million. 6.23 million dollars of tea exports realized in the first 8 months of the year were made by companies from Rize.
In the period from January to August, the 10 million 772 thousand 705 dollars worth of tea exports from Turkey was carried out.
Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) According to the information obtained from the data, first 8 months of the year, from 2 thousand 753 tons of tea exported, earnings was 10 million 772 thousand 705 dollars.
During the period in question, Rize-based companies brought 6 million 235 thousand 210 dollars to the country's economy in exchange for 1887 tons of tea export. Accordingly, Rize realized 69 percent of the country's total tea exports on quantity basis and 58 percent on value basis.
Tea exports from
Rize during this period increased by 23 percent in quantity and 57 percent in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of countries that exported tea from Rize increased by 11 and reached 28 compared to the same period last year. The countries with the highest tea acquiry were Belgium, USA, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
During the period in question, Belgium ranked first in tea exports from Rize with 3 million 733 thousand 236 dollars. In the same period of the previous year, 725 tons of tea was exported to the country for 2 million 615 thousand 107 dollars. According to these data, tea exports to Belgium increased by 22 percent in quantity and 43 percent in value compared to the same period last year.
Belgium was followed by the USA with 497 thousand 572 dollars, the Netherlands with 324 thousand 994 dollars, Saudi Arabia with 297 thousand 310 dollars, and TRNC with 261 thousand 882 dollars in tea exports.
Tea exports to Saudi Arabia rose 182 percent in quantity and 233 percent in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
The countries with the least tea exports were Taiwan, Tajikistan and Moldavia. A total of 7 thousand 684 dollars revenue was obtained from the exports made to these countries.
'Turkish Tea Should Be Evaluated in Terms of Sub-Industry Areas'

DKİB Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Tea Sector Committee Şaban Turgut stated that the rapid rise in tea exports in recent years will continue in the future.
Pointing out that Turkish tea should be evaluated not only as a beverage but also in terms of sub-industry areas, Turgut stated that investments should be made in the fields of cosmetics, food industry, supplementary food and chemical products, and studies should be carried out to export it as a further processed value-added product.
