TURKSTAT Announced The Foreign Trade Indices
TURKSTAT announced the foreign trade indices. In January 2020, the export unit index increased by 3.8 percent.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has released its foreign trade indices for the month of January of 2020.
According to the announced data, the export unit value index increased by 3.8 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index increased by 3.9 percent in food, beverage and tobacco, 9.8 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel) and 4.4 percent in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverage and tobacco), while it decreased 16.4 percent in fuels.
The
import unit value index increased by 3.9 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index increased by 10.4 percent in food, beverage and tobacco, 21.5 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel) and 7.7 percent in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverage and tobacco), while it decreased by 22.6 percent in fuels.
The export quantity index decreased 1.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index decreased by 5.2 percent in food, beverage and tobacco, 12.6 percent in fuels and 3.3 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverage, tobacco), while it increased by 2.0 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel).
The import quantity index decreased by 9.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index decreased by 25.2 percent in food, beverage and tobacco, 17.1 percent in fuels and 1.8 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverage, tobacco), while it increased by 5.1 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel).

According to the series not based on seasonal and calendar effects; The export quantity index, which was 136.7 in December 2020, increased by 1.8 percent and reached 139.2 in January 2021. According to the series not based on calendar effect; The export quantity index, which was 115.5 in January 2020, increased by 6.7 percent and was recorded as 123.2 in January 2021.
The import volume index, not based on seasonal and calendar effects, decreased by 1.6 percent.
