TURKSTAT Presented the Minimum Wage Proposal for 2021 TURKSTAT presented the minimum wage proposal for 2021. Accordingly, TURKSTAT suggested a minimum wage of 2,792.10 TL for the heavy business line; 2.507.70 TL for the middle business line; 2,339.10 TL for the light business. There is a short time left until the decision on how much the minimum wage will be in the new year. Turkey Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) representatives expected to be announced in the first figure in the ongoing negotiations, after a worker's minimum subsistence wage is announced in the meeting. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its third meeting within the framework of the studies to determine the minimum wage that will be valid in 2021. At this meeting, the Türk-İş delegation representing the worker segment will make a presentation. Representatives of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Commerce presented economic data and reports at the commission last week. In this meeting, TURKSTAT representatives shared the livelihood amount of a worker, which is one of the most important issues in the raise bargain. According to the data shared by TURKSTAT, the minimum wage was calculated as 2,792.10 TL for heavy business; 2.507.70 TL for the middle business line; TL 2,339.10 for the light business. In the calculations made by TURKSTAT, it was seen that an average increase of 20 percent was made compared to 2020. Türk-İş, representing the workers trying to make a living conditions in Turkey, stated that the minimum livelihoods of a single worker that was shared by Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) Minimum Wage Fixing Commission does not reflect the realities of the country. In the statement made by Türk-İş, it was emphasized that the minimum wage that should be a starting wage has turned into a living wage over time, and the following was stated: “Today, 7 million of our people have to live on the minimum wage. Inflation, the livelihoods and the minimum wage obtained are known to everyone. Therefore, employers and the government should bring a figure to the table that will make people happy. As we said before, employees will accept. If there is a number, we, as Türk-İş, say 'yes' to it. We are waiting for offers from the employers and the government. According to the next proposal, we will re-evaluate the situation. “
