Twitter Decided to Have A Representative In Turkey
Twitter has decided to have a representative in Turkey. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, made a statement on the subject.
In these days, which is approaching the end of the date of having a representative, a statement was made about the highly anticipated social media platform
Twitter whether it will appoint a representative to Turkey. Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan announced that Twitter will have a representative in Turkey.
Noting that the additional article 4 of Law No.5651, which stipulates that social networks with a daily access of more than 1 million from Turkey, have representatives in Turkey, Sayan said:
"With the decision to appoint a representative announced by
Twitter, there are no social network providers other than Pinterest in our country that do not have a representative. We are also closely following the work of Pinterest to appoint representatives."
Reminding that VK is the first platform to appoint a representative directly in Turkey without any sanctions, Sayan stated that other networks, including YouTube, TikTok and Facebook, have reported that they will appoint representatives after administrative fines.
Sayan emphasized that Twitter, Periscope and Pinterest, who have not yet appointed a representative, were given an "advertising ban" decision in January 2021 as ordered by law.
Sayan said, "The next step was to narrow the internet traffic bandwidth. We welcome Twitter's announcement of its decision to appoint a representative. I would like to express my gratitude to our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who pioneered the implementation of one of the most comprehensive regulations on social networks in the world. We will continue to work with the digital Turkish vision."
