UK Announces New Support Program
UK announces its new support program. The program includes the practice of short-time work instead of firing employees.
British Minister of Finance Rishi Sunak announced the
UK government's new business support program. Making a statement in the House of Commons, Altar said that the government will directly support the wages of employees. Also that a short-time working system could be implemented instead of firing employees in un-demanded workplaces.
The program in question will start in November and last for 6 months; Emphasizing that it will be open to all small and medium-sized businesses, Sunak said that larger companies can only benefit from this program if their turnover decreases during the crisis.
Stating that with this program, at least 77 percent of their normal salaries will be paid to those who work at least one-third of their shifts, Minister Sunak stated that 55 percent of this amount will be covered by the employer and 22 percent by the state.
Rishi Sunak said, "I cannot save every business, no Finance Minister will do this."
Another support program that started in the England in May will end on October 31st.
