Unemployment Figures for June Announced
Unemployment figures for the month of June has been announced. Unemployment rate was recorded as 10.6 percent in June.
The previous month, the
unemployment rate in Turkey was 13.2 percent. According to the data for the month of June, the unemployment rate among the young population was 22.7 percent. In the same period, non-agricultural unemployment was recorded as 12.3 percent.
The rate of idle labor force, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and the unemployed, decreased by 4.7 points compared to the previous month and became 22.4 percent in June.
The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over across Turkey decreased by 823 thousand people in June 2021 compared to the previous month and became 3 million 399 thousand people.
Employment Rate Reached 44.9 Percent
The number of people employed increased by 602 thousand people in June 2021 compared to the previous month and became 28 million 586 thousand people, while the employment rate increased by 0.9 points to 44.9 percent.
In June 2021, the workforce decreased by 222 thousand people compared to the previous month and was recorded as 31 million 984 thousand people, while the labor force participation rate was recorded as 50.2 percent with a 0.5 percentage point decrease.
Employment Increased by 602 Thousand
Compared to the previous month, the number of people employed in June increased by 163 thousand people in the agriculture sector, 296 thousand people in the industry sector, 8 thousand people in the construction sector and 136 thousand people in the service sector. Thus, the total
employment increase was 602 thousand.
17.2 percent of those employed were in agriculture, 21.8% in industry, 6.4 percent in construction and 54.5 percent in the service sector.
The rate of unregistered employees, which shows the share of those working without being affiliated with the social security institution in total employees, decreased by 2.2 points compared to the same month of the previous year and became 29.5 percent. The rate of informal workers in the non-agricultural sector decreased by 2.1 points compared to the same month of the previous year and became 17.3 percent.
