US and China Will Meet for Trade Talks
The US and China will meet for trade talks. The trade table between the USA and China is being re-established.
According to
Bloomberg's report, Biden's government is expected to meet with Beijing in the coming days on issues such as adherence to the trade deal and the beginning of a new process in which some products will be removed from the US tariffs.
In his first meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, US Trade Representative Tai will discuss areas where
China has not adhered to the Trump-era agreement.
Tai is expected to make a statement on the matter in Washington. According to the text of the statement, Tai will state that they are "ready to overcome difficulties to mutually advance relations, but will also protect their economic interests."
A US government official said the US does not intend to escalate trade tensions in talks with Beijing. The official said that if China does not change its actions in some areas, the United States may adopt a different strategy.
US officials pointed out that the phase 1 agreement signed in January 2020 for some products will expire at the end of this year and underlined that China is far from its purchase targets.
According to one official, before the US takes action against China, it will look at China's response to Tai's call to comply with the deal.
