US Dollar Started The Day With a Horizontal Course
The US dollar started the day with a horizontal course. Against the dollar, the Turkish Lira retains some of its earnings.
The
dollar/TL rate, which decreased to 7.30 levels last week, is moving horizontally after its 200-day average. The dollar rate, which went down to the level of 7.34 on the first trading day of the week in the new year, closed the day at 7.4261 after the announcement of inflation data.
Today, the dollar / TL exchange rate is at the level of 7.4223, the Euro / TL rate traded at 9.1083. The currency basket recorded at the level of 8,2582.
The dollar / TL exchange rate, which closed 2019 at 5.9511, started 2020 with the level of 5.9489 and reached the level of 7.4299 as the year closed. Starting 2020 at 6,6704 level, Euro / TL rate closed the year at 9,0747 level. While the closing level of 2019 was 6.3105 in the currency basket, the closing level in 2020 was 8.2582.
Yesterday's Inflation Data was Above Expectations
The inflation data announced yesterday came above expectations. According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (
TurkStat) for the month of December, the consumer price index increased by 14.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, increased by 1.25 percent compared to the previous month. The producer price index, on the other hand, increased by 25.15 percent year-on-year and increased by 2.36 percent on a monthly basis.
