US Dollar Turkish Lira Renewal in 2022 Record
US Dollar-TL continued to rise on its third day and recorded a new peak of 2022. While the upward momentum in the exchange rate continued, a decline in the risk premium was also observed.
While the Turkish Lira extended its losses against the dollar for the third day, stocks recovered quickly after Wednesday's decline. Turkey's risk premium declined with the support of global risk appetite. The US Dollar-TL reached its highest level of 2022 by testing above 18.17. USD/TL had also realized record closing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index, led by bank shares, recorded a premium of more than 2 percent. The 5-year CDS fell 22 basis points to 718 basis points.
While stock indices in Asia and Europe are trading in the plus, the ounce of gold is trading at $ 1,763, up 0.7%. Economic data for August pointed to a slowdown in economic activity. While the real sector confidence index fell to the lowest level in two years, capacity utilization rates fell.
