US Senate Approves $ 484 Billion Additional Budget
The U.S. Senate approved an additional $ 484 billion budget bill to support small businesses and health centers to tackle the coronavirus outbreak, as well as further testing.
The Senate Minority Leader Democrat Chuck Schumer and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's approval of the economic support package submitted to the Senate General Assembly after a joint agreement was agreed.
The bill, which stated that 310 billion dollars will be provided to small business owners and citizens with difficult financial status due to the epidemic, is expected to allocate 60 billion dollars for local banks, 75 billion dollars for hospitals and 60 billion dollars for emergency disaster loans with additional budget requests.
In addition, there is a demand for more testing against the coronavirus outbreak and an additional $ 25 billion for infection control.
The draft, which is announced to be voted by the House of Representatives on Thursday, is expected to be put in front of President Donald Trump for signing this week.
SENATOR PAUL CRITICIZES THE BILL
On the other hand, Republican Senator Rand Paul, who made a statement before the vote, criticized the bill.
He stated that the $ 484 billion budget allocated as part of the fight against the epidemic was higher than it should have been.
Senator Paul said, "I oppose spending another $ 500 billion. The money allocated to combat the virus is more than $ 2 trillion. Our annual deficit will last $ 4 trillion. We cannot continue this way. No financial support can lift an economy drowned by quarantine. This is not a lack of money, but a lack of trade. This economic disaster is resolved only when we start to re-open the economy. "
