US-Turkey Trade Partnership Increased in the Pandemic Period

US Chamber of Commerce Vice President Chosky Kush said that the trade partnership between the US and Turkey increased during the coronavirus period. The new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak that has influenced the whole world has also changed the balances in global trade. Accordingly, Washington wanted to reduce its trade dependence with China and differentiated its trade partnerships. In this context, the eyes were turned to NATO ally Turkey. As a result, the $ 100 billion trade volume between Turkey and the US to take steps towards its goal was also inevitable.

'Strengthening Trade Bonds Benefits Both Sides'

Kush Chosky, Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, who gave a special interview to TRT Haber on the subject, said:
'' We want to see all kinds of bilateral partnerships that provide mutual benefits and employment in the economies of both countries. There are countries in which both countries are dependent, and we want to see that the bond is tightened, especially in the textile, technology and energy sectors to end this dependency. Given the safe supply of food, business partnership will grow in agriculture. Turkey increasingly in the United States is looking carefully in terms of energy. This means that Turkish business circles will focus on states such as Texas. ''
Chosky, who stated that strengthening trade relations between the US and Turkey during the outbreak of coronavirus, continued as follows:
'' Although there are some challenges in global trade due to the global epidemic, partnerships between Turkish and American firms continued. These partnerships increased especially in the launch of the products needed during the epidemic. an important link in the supply chain of many products, including fabrics primarily in Turkey medical protective material. '
The commercial partnership with Turkey should be evaluated in terms of not only the economic dimension of national security, saying Chosky, stressed the strengthening of trade relations between the two countries in terms of national security would provide benefits to both sides.
