US Warned Turkey About The S-400 Missile System
The USA warned Turkey about the S-400 missile system. The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee issued a sanction warning.
US Senators have warned that
NATO ally Turkey could face new sanctions if it acquires new Russian S-400 defense systems.
US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Senator Bob Menendez, posted a tweet, said "Every new acquisition of Turkey will mean new sanctions."
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in an interview broadcast on the US-based CBS television, said that he could move forward with the purchase of the new S-400 air defense system, despite the objections of the US.
What Did Erdogan Say?
President Erdogan noted the following regarding the US stance on Turkey's purchase of the
S-400:
"He can't interfere with it. If you don't give me the Patriot, you cannot interfere with any defense system that I will buy from another country at the point of defense. Look, NATO Secretary General (Jens) Stoltenberg made a very good statement on this subject; We cannot interfere with the purchase of a system.' "Who is it? Stoltenberg; NATO's Secretary-General. Here you go. The truth is out. With all due respect. I'll ask you, who will share Turkey's security risk?" You will not give me Patriots, you will interfere with which defense system I bought from which country! There can be no such thing."
Stating that the air force alone will not be enough for this task, President Erdogan said, "The defense systems are different, the air forces are different. Because at the moment, in terms of the air forces, do I have a guarantee that the US will continue to provide the F-16s tomorrow? Since there will be no such guarantee. Maybe then we will have to take very different steps.”
