US Will Not Lift Its Sanctions on Iran
The US has announced that it will not lift its sanctions on Iran. The country will be sanctioned until it stops the uranium enrichment process.
US President Joe Biden stated that they will not lift sanctions on Iran until it ceases uranium enrichment. Biden had his first television interview via CBS, since he took over the presidency.
Biden gave information about the nuclear deal in the section on Iran in the interview, which will be published today. US President Biden said, "First, will the US remove sanctions to bring Iran to the negotiating table? No. They have to stop uranium enrichment first."
In the previous statements, the
Biden government had stated that it is possible to return to a nuclear agreement with Iran if certain conditions are met. Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had stated that the United States must first lift all sanctions in order for his country to fulfill its commitments arising from the nuclear agreement.
US-Iran Nuclear Agreement
An agreement was signed between Iran, US, China, France, Germany, Russia and Britain in 2015 to regulate and control Tehran's nuclear activities.
After Donald Trump came to the presidency, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the deal on May 8, 2018 and started to impose sanctions on Iran again.
In response, Tehran completely halted its commitments in the agreement on January 5, 2020, and took steps, including a high level of uranium enrichment.
