Vaccination Passport Has Been Approved By The EU
Vaccination passport has been approved by the EU. The European Parliament approved the vaccination passport for free travel within the EU.
The
European Parliament accepted the ability to travel freely within the EU without quarantine, together with a certificate to be accepted jointly. At the final stage, the certificate must also be accepted by the governments of EU member states.
Free travel between the 27 EU member states will start as of July 1 if all governments ratify the protocol.
The European Medicines Agency has so far approved vaccines from BionTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen for use.
How will the process work?
According to the regulation spoken in March, the document called "Digital Green Certificate" by the EU Commission, also known as "vaccine passport" or "Covid card", will be prepared in paper or digital form. To prevent discrimination, people who are not vaccinated will also be able to get the certificate.
There will be a QR code on the certificate, which is said to be free for those living in EU countries. With this code, the authenticity and security of the certificate will be ensured. The EU Commission will develop software where the certificate can be verified in all EU countries.
It will be the EU countries' own initiative to decide which restrictions on travel will be lifted for those who have this certificate. Studies will be carried out for the international mutual recognition of the certificate. The document will be prepared in the language of the issuing country and in English.
If practices such as quarantine or testing continue for those who have a member country certificate, they will have to notify the EU Commission and other member countries and explain the reasons.
The vaccination certificate will be valid in all EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The certificate can be issued to EU citizens, their families regardless of nationality, as well as EU residents but non-EU citizens and visitors who have the right to travel to other EU countries.
It will also be possible for people who will travel to the
EU from third countries to obtain the certificate. A person who wants to go to EU countries, where only compulsory travel is currently allowed, will be able to request a vaccination certificate after submitting the necessary documents to the country to which they will go. The country evaluating the documents will decide whether to issue the certificate or not.
