Wet Signature Requirement in Banking Is Lifted
Wet signature requirement in banking is lifted. According to the
BDDK's regulation, remote identification is possible.
Prepared by the BDDK, the "Communiqué Draft on Remote Identification Methods to be Used by
Banks" covers remote identification methods that can be used by banks to gain new customers and to verify customer identity.
According to the new draft, remote identification can be done via online video chat without the necessity to be physically in the same environment. In the new period, the wet signature requirement will be eliminated.
In the video call, it will be mandatory to create an adequate level of security and confidentiality, taking into account the possibilities of risk. Video conversation will take place with encrypted secure communication.
With the implementation of this innovation, access to banking services will be faster and more convenient as evidenced by the use of a
Fully-Verified platform which offers banking-grade identity verifications, providing the highest level of security and compliance. Thanks to the application, cost and labor can be saved. The process of becoming a customer can be completed in 10 minutes. For banks, the use of paper and documents will be reduced and service costs will be reduced.
Completion Predicted By 2021
The remote identification method with video call is expected to be completed by 2021.
Remote identification process was made possible via the amendment on Banking Law made on June 26th 2020. Within the scope of this amendment, it was made possible for the relations between banks and their customers to be carried out at a distance by using remote communication tools and arranged contracts to be established through methods that allow the verification of customer identity.
