Cryptocurrency donations have been made to Ukraine since the war began. So what did Ukraine do with the donated cryptocurrencies?
Cryptocurrency donations from all over the world continue to flow into
Russia-occupied Ukraine. The donations that increased day by day amounted to approximately $85 million according to the latest data.
52.5% of the $85 million donation was sent directly to the accounts announced by the Ukrainian government. The rest was collected through charities. Bitcoin and Ethereum donations accounted for about 68 percent of all cryptocurrency donations, or $56 million. They were followed by ERC-20 with $11 million, BEP2 with $6.6 million, DOT with $6.15 million, and SOL with $1.5 million. Smaller amounts were also sent via Dogecoin, MATIC tokens and NFTs.
The government aims to reach $100 million in cryptocurrency donations next week.
Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation,
Alex Bornyakov, announced that $15 million of donations received in cryptocurrency is spent on military supplies, including bulletproof vests.
On the other hand, the government will soon release an NFT collection to raise funds. It is reported that currently two companies are working on creating the NFT collection.
