WhatsApp Lost A Lot Of Blood After Mandatory Update

WhatsApp has lost a lot of blood after the mandatory update. The world-renowned messaging application WhatsApp lost millions of users after the data sharing update it required.

WhatsApp has lost a lot of blood after the mandatory update. WhatsApp, which has 2 billion users worldwide, lost millions of users after the mandatory update decision. According to the news compiled by The Guardian, it lost millions of users to its competitors after the new update that made it mandatory for users to share their information. In the UK parliamentary committee's statement on the subject, there were statements that Signal gained 7.5 million new users and Telegram gained 25 million new users. Both messaging apps gained users in the first three weeks of January, after the news about WhatsApp's update. Signal, known as a secure messaging application, was not even found in the top 1000 in UK on January 6, but on January 9, it was recorded as the most downloaded application in the country. On the other hand, WhatsApp does not exactly explain how many users it has lost after the update in question. However, when the data announced by the UK was examined, WhatsApp fell from 8 to 23 on the most downloaded applications list.   What Was WhatsApp's New Update? The update that caused WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, to lose so many users, included the sharing of users' data. The company first released a statement stating that those who do not accept the new update until February 8 cannot use the WhatsApp application. This decision caused the reaction of millions of people, especially in India. The company postponed the approval date of the update to May 15 in order to better explain the new developments to users. It has announced that the data of users who communicate with WhatsApp business accounts will be processed. The company stated that personal conversations will not be seen, but businesses will be given the chance to get to know users better. After these statements of the company, millions of people were concerned about the privacy of their personal data and started to prefer other applications. WhatsApp, which started to bleed after this, announced that end-to-end encryption will continue in personal communication, but it has difficulty regaining the trust of users.
