At a conference in July 2020, Saylor announced that instead of holding cash in the MicroStrategy vault, he wanted to invest in Bitcoin, gold or other alternative assets. In August 2020, MicroStrategy spent $250 million from its vault to buy 21,454 Bitcoin.

MicroStrategy continued to buy BTC every two or three months. In September 2020, the company bought another $175 million worth of Bitcoin. Saylor didn't stop there, however, and bought another $50 million worth of BTC in December 2020.

On December 11, 2020, MicroStrategy borrowed to increase the amount of Bitcoin it held and began selling $650 million of its convertible senior notes. On December 21, 2020, MicroStrategy announced that it held approximately 70,000 BTC at an average price of $15,964 per Bitcoin.
On February 24, 2021, it announced that it held approximately 90,000 BTC in its wallet for $2.171 billion at an average price of $23.985 per Bitcoin. For nearly 2 years, MicroStrategy continued to buy Bitcoin. With its recent purchases, Microstrategy announced that it has a total of 129,218 Bitcoins in its wallet.
Michael Saylor still favors bitcoin to this day. You can see from his tweets that he believes that bitcoin will rise again from its bottom and rise to new heights.
