The world food prices index declined in February, led by the decline in vegetable oils, meat and grain prices compared to the previous month, and ended its rising trend for four consecutive months.
The world food prices index, compiled by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which followed monthly changes in cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat, and sugar prices, fell 0.1 percent from its level in January to 180.5 points.
FAO increased its 2019 2019 grain production forecast slightly to 2,719 billion tons. FAO predicted world grain production to be 2.715 billion tons previously.
