Xbox President Phil Spencer Talks About Metaverse!
Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said he is optimistic about the overall Metaverse world and win-to-play games. However, he emphasized the need for caution (due to economic and speculative aspects). He also interestingly suggested that gamers have been in Metaverse worlds for 30 years.

Phil Spencer expressed his thoughts on the Metaverse and win-to-play games. 'My view of the Metaverse is that gamers have been in the Metaverse for 30 years. When you play games, if you're playing a World of Warcraft game, you're playing Roblox. You're playing a racing game where everyone is in a shared world,' he said. Spencer also noted that the commercial opportunities in the Metaverse continue to be of interest to him, Microsoft and the company's CEO Satya Nadella.
Phil Spencer spoke specifically about P2E games. 'Earning for gaming is something I'm particularly wary of. A labor force is being created out of gamers for some gamers to monetize in some way. Sometimes I think it's a hammer looking for a nail when these technologies come out. But I think real human use of these technologies can bring out some interesting things,' he said. Until his previous speech, Spencer had been labeled anti-NFT. In his speech in November last year, he expressed negative views on NFTs.
Xbox has yet to officially step into the NFT world, with its parent company Microsoft discontinuing Minecraft's NFT games in July this year. However, an unofficial art NFT has been created by a digital artist 'pabloandrespozo'. These NFTs were shared through the social media platform Instagram.
