Xiaomi sold more smartphones in June than both Samsung and Apple

The Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi surpassed its South Korean competitor Samsung and the American company Apple in June in the number of smartphones sold. This follows from data from the research company Counterpoint. Xiaomi smartphone sales rose 26 percent in June from May, giving the company a 17.1 percent share of the global smartphone market. Samsung's share of the global market was 15.7 percent in June and Apple's share was 14.3 percent. The cnbc.com portal informs about it. For the entire quarter, which ended at the end of June, the Chinese company Xiaomi was the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world after Samsung. However, analysts at research firm Counterpoint said the trend could only be temporary. The new increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam probably disrupted Samsung's production there in June. This has led to a lack of supply of smartphones to the South Korean company. Sales of the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei in the first half of 2021 decreased by 29.4 percent compared to the previous year. The company was hit by US sanctions, as a result of which its sales of mobile phones fell sharply. According to data released on Friday, the company achieved sales of 320.4 billion Chinese yuan (CNY). In the first half of 2020, it was 454 billion. In 2019, former US President Donald Trump enforced sanctions that cut off the company's access to US technologies and services, including state-of-the-art computer chips. Washington says Huawei poses a security risk and its technology could be used by the Chinese government to spy. The company denies it. Huawei's consumer division, which includes smartphones, fell 47 percent. The division has a 42 percent share of the company's total sales. The company did not disclose profit data.
