The main duties that are meant for this independent board are to rule over cases regarding content issues on the social network and help in shaping the company but daily content decisions will be made by Facebook. The 20 announced members consists of 10  female and 10 male and the members speak at least 29 different languages which seem to be a game-changer for Facebook. Each member is representing one country with the United States which has five members on the Board. Facebook first made its plans for the independent Oversight Board public in 2018 and the company had promised diversity among its members which CEO Mark Zuckerberg lived up to.
