The Playstation Store in mainland China was suspended by Sony (NYSE:SNE) in order to improve the online store's security. In the meantime the store will be stopping from selling games temporarily in the world's largest video game market.
On Sunday, PlayStation made an announcement on it's Weibo (NASDAQ:WB) account the closure in a statement, saying it was for a "system security upgrade" without providing any further details.
Reopening date has not been yet specified, however according to reports on social media that the Playstation users in mainland have switched to overseas services via a backdoor and found a way to curve China's restrictions to be able to download unlicensed games.
Sony Corp ADR (SNE) today is trading at $65.59, losing by +$0.38 or by +0.58%.
