Many major international airlines have made adjustments to some US flights due to the potential risks that may arise during the transition to 5G technology. Airline companies canceled their flights or changed their aircraft models, fearing that the introduction of 5G technology in the USA could cause technical problems with the aircraft. Companies such as Emirates, Air India, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, and British Airways have announced flight changes due to 5G uncertainty. While some airlines have suspended flights, some have stopped the flights of Boeing 777 model planes, which are expected to encounter the most technical difficulties. Some airline companies, such as Virgin Atlantic and Air France-KLM, stated that they did not make any flight cancellations, but they were monitoring the situation.

The deadline for phone companies to delay the transition to 5G in the US expired yesterday

AT&T and Verizon, two of the largest phone companies in the United States, planned to launch 5G technology in the C-band on January 5. At the request of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), companies announced on January 4 that they had postponed the transition to 5G technology for 2 weeks. An AT&T spokesperson said in a statement, "We know that aviation security and 5G can coexist. We are confident that more collaboration and technical considerations will resolve all issues."

Boeing and Airbus have warned about 5G technology

On December 21, 2021, the CEOs of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, sent a co-signed letter to the US Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, on the subject of 5G phone service, warning that this could cause great harm to the aviation industry. In the letter, it was argued that 5G would negatively affect the ability of aircraft to operate safely, and a call was made to "postpone the transition to 5G technology." On the other hand, groups in the industry advocating the transition to 5G technology accused the aviation industry of "playing fear-mongering and distorting the facts" and warned that delaying the transition to this technology would result in a loss of 10 billion dollars in the economy.

"Chaos" warning from US airline companies

Major US airline companies have also warned that 5G technology could cause chaos in air traffic. The executives of many companies in the aviation industry, including American Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, signed a joint letter regarding the danger that 5G could pose in terms of air transportation. After the backlash, Verizon and AT&T decided to stop the transition to 5G technology at some base stations near airports.
