A HEPP In Costa Rica Will Power Crypto Miners
A HEPP in Costa Rica will power crypto miners. The idle hydroelectric power plant will be commissioned again.
A hydroelectric power plant (HEPP), about 35 kilometers from San Hose, the capital of
Costa Rica, had been sitting idle for a while. However, the power plant seems to be taking action for crypto
mining now. Therefore, the corrections of the HES were made.
In Costa Rica, the state has a monopoly on energy distribution. A hydroelectric power station (HEPP) in the country has been idle for a long time. Eduardo Kooper, head of the family business, said the following about the idle power plant and its future plans:
“We had to stop the event for nine months, and exactly a year ago I heard about Bitcoin, blockchain and digital mining. I was very skeptical at first, but we found that this business consumes a lot of energy and we have too much.”
Three facilities worth $13.5 million will host crypto mining computers. An investment of 500 thousand dollars was made for this.
Kooper thinks the Costa Rican government should act aggressively to attract more crypto miners to the country. There is no official statement made by the government yet. Kooper pointed out that the country can offer miners clean, cheap energy and a stable internet connection.
