Fiscal officials from the German federal and state governments held the first talks this week to draft a law that would subject global companies to at least a 15 percent tax rate in Germany from 2023, according to the news of the German magazine Wirtschaftswoche, citing the Ministry of Finance.
In the news, it was stated that German Finance Minister Christian Lindner wants to apply the global minimum corporate tax of 15 percent to multinational companies "as early as January 2023.”
On the other hand, a consensus was reached in October on the global corporate tax regulation, on which the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has been working since 2012 and is coordinating the negotiations between 140 countries.
The leaders of the world's 20 largest economies (G20) also approved the tax agreement at the G20's Leaders Summit held in Rome in October 2021.
