Airbnb Said It Would Require Hosts To Provide More Cleaning
Airbnb said it would require accommodation hosts to provide more cleaning as part of the effort.
With this step, the platform wants to contribute to the reassurance of guests and local government representatives during the current coronavirus pandemic.
Hosts must commit to a so-called cleaning protocol by 20 November, which will include cleaning floors and other surfaces with soap and water, washing clothes at high temperatures, regularly ventilating rooms and disinfecting frequently touching items such as door handles and windows or railings.
Hosts who do not follow these rules may be removed from Airbnb or their presentations suspended.
A few weeks ago, Airbnb introduced stricter restrictions, including a ban on home parties that kept harassing neighbors.
In an effort to promote social distance, it has also removed the "event-friendly" and "allowed parties" options from search filters.
In several countries, it has banned the rental of entire homes to people under the age of 25 who have not had positive reviews.
