Amazon is starting a new chapter after the resignation of Jeff Bezos

The world's largest online retailer, the American company Amazon, is starting a new chapter after the resignation of 55-year-old founder Jeff Bezos from the position of chief boss. Bezos founded the company in 1994 in a garage in Seattle, but decided to leave the position and remain only the executive chairman of the board. In his new position, he will focus on the development of new products and initiatives, but he also intends to pay more attention to his other companies, such as Blue Origin, with which he wants to participate in the space conquest race and fulfill his childhood dream. Bezos will now be replaced by Andy Jassy, who graduated from Harvard University and joined Amazon in 1997 as a marketing manager. For the past 15 years, he has led Amazon's cloud division, AWS, which he was credited with creating a business with annual sales of $ 40 billion. Jassy, 53, will now take the company through the challenging period of the world following the coronavirus pandemic. Amazon, whose market value climbed to more than 1.7 trillion dollars but benefited greatly from the pandemic. The company more than tripled its profit and reported record sales in the first quarter of this year due to greater dependence of customers on online purchases. At the same time, however, they face dissatisfaction among employees. An attempt to create a union in warehouses in Alabama, USA, was repulsed by the company this year, but the trade unions do not want to give up. There are also growing voices calling for stricter regulation of technology giants, their eventual division and the introduction of new rules to protect competition. It is in this area that the Jassy faces wars on two fronts, in Brussels and in the capitals of the individual states. An advanced inquiry was launched by EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager. It has accused Amazon of using third-party vendor data to increase its own offering, but is also investigating its logistics and delivery activities. In addition, Amazon is also in the sights of regulators in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
