Animals ended up falling victim to the Chinese shopping spree
At the beginning of May this year, the animal protection group Love Home took a number of pictures in the Chinese city of Chengdu with inhumane treatment of several dozen puppies and kittens. They ended up falling victim to the Chinese shopping spree. Some traders send animals in so-called "mystery boxes", ie mysterious boxes, where the customer does not know in advance which animal they will receive. However, the transport of these animals to the customer is inhumane, according to the Love Home group. In one smaller van, more than 150 puppies and kittens, just a few weeks old, were usually transported in China. Many of them eventually died due to inappropriate treatment. The problem here is that China has almost no laws to protect animals from ill-treatment. The CNN portal informed about it.
The animals paid for the madness that has prevailed in
China around mystery boxes for several months. People liked them very much there and it became a huge business for entrepreneurs. The Chinese buy watches, smartphones or sunglasses this way. In recent months, however, such shops have begun to cover animals as well.
Although such delivery of living creatures is officially banned in China, control by the Chinese state is strict. Chinese traders began to use it, offering one such pre-secret animal.
Ding Ying, an associate professor of marketing at
Renmin University, says that collecting these boxes has grown into addiction for some Chinese. Therefore, the companies Sephora, Converse or Starbucks, which also offer them such mystery boxes, also reacted to the behavior of the Chinese population.
