Apple and Google's App Stores May Be Subject to Regulations
Apple and Google's app stores may be subject to regulations. US officials have introduced a bill regarding the said regulations.
Republican and Democrat members of the US House of Representatives have introduced a bill aimed at regulating the app stores operated by companies like Apple and Google's parent company
Alphabet.
The bill, presented by Democrat Hank Johnson and Republican Ken Buck, is complementary to a regulation introduced this week by senators from both parties that would prevent major app stores from penalizing apps that offer different prices or terms through another app store or payment system.
In the statement made by Republican Buck, it was stated that companies such as
Google and Apple put pressure on application developers and application owners had to accept the conditions set by these companies in order to reach their customers.
In addition, in the statement, it was stated that US consumers downloaded 13.4 billion applications from app stores last year, and it was informed that they spent approximately 33 billion dollars.
