Approximately 7 Million Houses Sold In 5 Years in Turkey Approximately 7 million houses were sold within 5 years in Turkey. Housing sales data were compiled as part of the October 5th World Housing Day. According to data obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) by an AA correspondent, in September 2015-August 2020 period, 6 million 944 thousand 616 housing has changed hands. During the mentioned period, the highest residential sales were made in 2017 with 1 million 409 thousand 314. In 2015, 1 million 289 thousand 320, 1 million 341 thousand 453 in 2016, 1 million 375 thousand 398 in 2018 and 1 million 348 thousand 729 houses were sold in 2019. In the first 8 months of 2020, the number of houses that changed hands with the effect of lowering bank interest rates was recorded as 1 million 24 thousand 534.   Istanbul and Ankara were the provinces with the highest number of residential sales In the last 5 years, the most house sales were made in Istanbul with 1 million 199 thousand 715. In Ankara, 720 thousand 124 houses were sold in the said period; 412 thousand 588 houses were sold in İzmir, 313 thousand 735 in Antalya and 265 thousand 715 in Bursa. The provinces that sell more than 50 thousand houses are Muğla with 93 thousand, Diyarbakır with 92 thousand, Denizli with 84 thousand, Kahramanmaraş with 79 thousand, Çanakkale with 65 thousand, Trabzon with 62 thousand, Malatya with 60 thousand, Yalova and Elazig with 53 thousand Recorded as Ordu with 51 thousand.   The House Sold To Foreigners In 5 Years Was Approximately 155 Thousand In the period of September 2015-August 2020, the number of houses sold to foreigners was recorded as 154 thousand 871. Foreigners bought most houses from Istanbul during the period in question. In this context, 61 thousand 734 houses were sold to foreigners in Istanbul, while the figure was recorded as 9,596 in first 8 months of this year. In the same period, 32 thousand 61 houses were sold to foreigners in Antalya, 8 thousand 904 in Bursa, 6 thousand 813 in Yalova, 7 thousand 856 in Ankara and 4 thousand 769 in Sakarya. Since the first month of January 2015, with 30 thousand 209 houses Iraq was in the first place for sale of most residential areas of foreigners. With 15,83 the Iranians took the second place, followed by the Saudi Arabians with 13,296, the Russians with 11,228 and the Kuwaitis with 10,137. In the first 8 months of 2020, the demand from the Chinese surprised. The Chinese, who bought 575 houses in the period January-August 2020, ranked 8th on the list.
