Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of Aspilsan Energy, who was a guest of the Gündem Teknoloji program, said this about the lithium-ion battery production center investment: "We are talking about the storage of solar energy, the technology used in our mobile phones and all portable systems. We start with the battery with the largest market share. With an investment of 220 megawatts, we will start the production of the cylindrical battery, that is, the most used battery in daily life.

The size of our first-stage investment, through which we will reduce our country's dependence on foreign sources, is 1 billion TL. We will start mass production in May. Our annual production target is to produce a production that will meet 50 percent of the market. We start with an annual production capacity of 21 million units. Following that, we will start the production of the battery to be used in the automotive industry. Our production facility has the capability to produce them. Our goal is for Turkey to become a supplier country in battery production. On the battery side, we are one of Aselsan's largest suppliers. Our discussions with Arçelik and Telekom companies regarding the battery we will produce are continuing."

Pointing out that our natural resources are limited, General Manager of Aspilsan Energy, Özsoy added, "The storage of solar and wind energy is of strategic importance for countries with limited natural resources and high energy costs. We currently manufacture the battery systems required for energy storage. When we produce our own battery, it will be an element that will enable the development of energy storage systems. Manufacturing our own batteries is very strategic in this respect. In the next step, we will be working on the production of systems necessary for each home to store its own solar energy."
