Call for Return to 1 Million Vehicles from Mercedes-Benz
German automotive company Mercedes-Benz has called for the return of nearly 1 million vehicles worldwide due to a problem affecting the brake system.
In the statement made by Mercedes-Benz, it was noted that the "function of the brake booster" in the ML, GL and R-Class series (SUV) produced in 2004-2015 may be affected by corrosion.
In the announcement, it was stated that the owners of the potentially affected vehicles will be contacted and the recall of the vehicles will begin immediately.
According to the German Federal Agency for Motor Vehicles (KBA), Mercedes-Benz has initiated the return process of 993,407 cars worldwide, of which 70,000 are in Germany.
In the statement made by KBA, it was noted that in the vehicles of Mercedes-Benz in question, corrosion can cause the disconnection between the brake pedal and the brake system in the worst case.
In the statement, the note "As a result, the foot brake may become inoperable" was shared.
In the news in the German press, it was added that in the case of high corrosion in the vehicles in question, a particularly strong or hard braking may cause mechanical damage to the brake servo, therefore the connection between the brake pedal and the brake system may be broken and the foot brake may not work.
