China Started Research on Mars
China started research on Mars. China's Mars rover, Zhurong, has landed on the planet.
According to the statement made by the
Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA), China's Mars probe Zhurong has launched research and exploration studies by landing on the surface of Mars. In the Chinese media, the contact of the probe, which landed from the ramp of the landing platform to the surface of Mars, to begin their research on the Red Planet, has been called "China's first footprints on the Red Planet". Powered by solar energy and weighing 240 kilograms, the 6-wheeler Zhurong will travel on the surface of Mars and gather information about landforms.
China's Mars mission, called Tianwen-1 (Questions to the Sky), consists of an orbital craft, a landing craft, and a rover vehicle. Tianwen-1 was launched into space on July 23, 2020 last year, "Zhurong", which means the god of fire and war in Chinese mythology, also landed on Mars with the Tianwen-1 spacecraft in February. It was announced that the cabin, consisting of the traveler and the landing vehicle, landed on Utopia Planitia in the northern part of Mars on May 15.
With this development,
China made history as the second country after the USA to land on the surface of Mars and use a reconnaissance vehicle on the surface. The Soviet Union's vehicle, which landed on Mars in 1971, stopped signaling after landing.
