Consumer Inflation in China was Moderate
The consumer price index in the country increased by 2.4 percent in August.
As a result of increase by 11.2 percent in
food prices, consumer inflation in
China followed a moderate course last month.
The National Bureau of Statistics shared data on the consumer price index on Wednesday. Accordingly, the
consumer price index rose 2.4 percent in August compared to the same month of 2019. The index had increased by 2.7 percent in July.
While the producer price index decreased by 2 percent on an annual basis, the median expectation was for a decline of 1.9 percent. The index declined by 2.4 percent in July.
