Cryptocurrency Ban from Iran
The Central Bank of Iran announced that it prohibited the trading of cryptocurrencies produced outside the country.
A cryptocurrency ban came from
Iran. The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced that it is banning trading cryptocurrencies obtained from mining outside the country. It is stated that this step of the central bank is to prevent the removal of assets from the country and consequently to prevent the depreciation of the Iranian Rial.
According to the news reflected in the Iranian media, the central bank, which has implemented strict regulations on cryptocurrencies in order to prevent the loss of value in the Iranian rial, this time took such a step to prevent money outflow.
Fatemeh Fannizadeh, an Iranian lawyer living in Switzerland, used the following statements on the subject:
"Cryptocurrencies are already regulated in Iran. Although trading transactions are generally prohibited, mining is legal. The purpose of this move in my opinion; The faster export of cryptocurrencies whose mining is done in Iran and of course to continue the war against the decrease in the value of the rial ... "
Cryptocurrencies cannot be used as a payment instrument in Iran yet, but institutions in the country can make payments for imported products using cryptocurrencies they obtain from legal miners. The question of how the central bank will prevent or rage the entry of cryptocurrencies mined abroad is still a matter of curiosity. The
central bank has not made a statement on the issue yet.
