Customs Tax Reduced to Zero on Wheat
Customs Tax on wheat has been reduced to zero. This tax was zeroed on some cereals along with wheat.
The customs duty applied for wheat and some cereal products, provided that they are used in the production of flour and some products, was reduced to zero until the end of April of the next year.
According to the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the footnote at the end of the table in Chapter 10 in the annex 1 of the import regime decision, which was put into effect with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 20/12/1995 and numbered 95/7606 changed as, “customs tax is applied as 0% until the end of 30/4/2021.”
In accordance with the amended footnote, the customs duty was reflected by 20 percent in this chapter, provided that products such as flour, products obtained by embossing grain products and canned food were manufactured.
The related chapter includes grain products such as
wheat, barley, gin corn, broken rice, buckwheat, millet and quinoa. According to Commerce Department data during January-November 2020 grain group between Turkey's most imports had taken place as 13th. Accordingly, during this period, imports of 2.9 billion dollars were made in the cereals group. For the whole of 2019, grain imports were recorded as 3.5 billion dollars.
