Cybercrime Informants Will Be Paid In Cryptocurrencies
US State Department announced that the cybercrime informants will be paid in cryptocurrencies. The "Rewards for Justice" program has added crypto to its payment options.
The recent cyber attacks on US institutions and software companies have pushed the country to take new measures. The constant demanding of cryptocurrencies as ransom by those who organized the cyber attacks, the new technology, until the banning of these systems was discussed.
The “Rewards for Justice” program, organized by the
US State Department for ransomers or those who gave advance information about attacks, took the
cryptocurrency step. The ministry added the option of cryptocurrencies to payments to be made to people who provide information about the ransomers.
In a statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "Award payments can also be made with cryptocurrencies." Later, this payment method was confirmed by the ministry. A ministry spokesman said it would be a first in US history. The USA has been implementing the award program since 1984.
A short time ago, as a result of the cyber attack on the oil pipeline on the east coast of the USA, no flow could be sent to a large area. The fact that the attackers managed to get the ransom also brought great debates.
Although the FBI later recovered most of the ransom, a few weeks after this attack, another company that provided software support to many companies in the USA was attacked.
