Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk stated that he is against the new
NFT integration feature of Twitter. Twitter's (NYSE:TWTR) move came in the wake of Meta's plans to support NFT trading and verification in the coming months.
In a tweet he posted on Friday morning, Elon Musk criticized the social media giant for devoting engineering resources to NFT integration while doing little to combat spam activity on its platform.
Tesla CEO
Elon Musk tweeted and said, “Crypto scammers on Twitter are throwing a spam party on every thread and they are wasting their engineering resources on this bullshit!?”
Musk's criticism that Twitter is not trying to curb spam activity seems quite justified. Some malicious people often use fake accounts to impersonate the Tesla CEO and other key figures, just to promote crypto and similar products. For example, in 2020, an impersonator pretending to be Elon Musk managed to steal a total of $2 million from many innocent victims. Interestingly, crypto scammers have already taken their place in Musk's tweet complaining about his activities. One of these individuals wrote:
“To celebrate Tesla merch buyable with Dogecoin, we are giving away $10,000,000 coins. Is it a unique opportunity in life to become a millionaire?"
As reported, social media company Twitter has started providing access to verified NFT' profile pictures for Twitter Blue users. Some users have already embraced the new feature and are already using hexagon shaped avatars showing their NFT.
