Social media giant Twitter's new job posting indicates that it may be hiring an executive for its crypto division with a focus on blockchain, cryptocurrencies and Web3.
The hired person will work in the same division as
Tess Rinearson. Rinearson was hired by Twitter and has been involved in many blockchain projects such as Interchain and Tendermint.
The job posting was shared by Rinearson, stating that the hired person would be “her thought partner in exploring all opportunities.” Rinearson will likely retain her position as the Crypto Engineering Leader. Rinearson also added that Twitter will post more job postings related to the engineering division.
Part of the job posting states that the social media company is looking at membership tokens. Therefore, Twitter may soon release its private blockchain token. The job posting also adds that Twitter is looking at decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). DAOs are important on the blockchain as they allow token holders to vote on platform-related decisions.
The newly created crypto division and Twitter's social media division are thought to be working together soon. This may be because interest in Web3 is growing.
While Twitter has yet to make an official announcement about launching DAOs and joining Web3, it has launched a few more crypto products for its users. In September, company introduced a Bitcoin donation feature.
This week, Twitter announced the
NFT integration, where users will not be able to post NFTs that do not belong to them in their profile picture. This feature will only be available to Twitter Blue users, but it could positively impact the growth of the NFT community on the platform.
