BIST 100 Started the Week With An Increase

BIST 100 index started the week with an increase. BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the week at 1,788.40 points with an increase of 0.67 percent.

At the beginning of the day, the BIST 100 index, which gained 11.99 points and 0.67 percent compared to the previous close, reached 1,788.40 points. While the banking index gained 0.39 percent at the opening, the holding index gained 0.58 percent. Among the sector indices, most increase was recorded on forest paper printing with 1.87 percent, while the most decline was recorded on tourism with 0.08 percent. On Friday, the BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul closed with an increase for the seventh week in a row, even though it lost 2.35 percent. The index closed at 1,776.41 points with an increase of 2.25 percent on a weekly basis. Analysts said that although the concerns about the Omicron variant that emerged in the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic continued, optimism came to the fore at the opening of the new week. Stating that the speeches of US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde are in the focal point of investors today, analysts stated that clues about the future of monetary policies will be sought in the statements. In addition, it was stated that today, the economic confidence index and foreign trade balance in the country, inflation in Germany and the Dallas Fed manufacturing industry activity index in the USA will be monitored closely. In technical terms, it was stated that the level of 1.830 is in a position of resistance and the level of 1.730 stands out as the support for the BIST 100 index.
