Ford Motor Co., Tesla Inc. and other electric vehicle manufacturers are looking for ways to separate the electric vehicle operation from the current company structure in order to gain the investor interest.
CEO
Jim Farley wants to completely separate Ford's electric vehicle operations from the combustion engine business. It is stated that
Farley is even considering turning the two fields into two independent companies for this. An independent electric vehicle company could provide Ford with the price-earnings ratio that brought Tesla closer to a $1 trillion valuation.
However, splitting the company may not be as easy as it seems. It is stated that the Ford family, which controls the automotive giant with its B-class
shares, did not favor this idea due to the fear of losing control.
While Ford announced that they have no plans to divide the company into two, it is stated that
Farley may try to give the company the edge it needs by positioning the electric vehicle arm as a separate part within the organization by going through a wide restructuring within the company instead of the two companies that are currently thought to cause serious problems.
