Crypto mining proposal from the President of Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko shared his comment on the subject.
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has now been added to the heads of state who are fond of
cryptocurrencies. Lukashenko, who met with employees and workers in Belaruskali, one of the largest fertilizer production centers in the world, stated that there is no high demand for Belarusian workers abroad, especially overseas, and therefore it does not make sense to go abroad for cheap business lines.
"Mine Cryptocurrency..."
The President of Belarus gave the following statements in his speech in the Gomel region:
“There are a lot of abandoned industrial facilities in this area. A lot of energy and electricity related businesses can be created. Do something about electricity. Finally, mining cryptocurrency, whatever it is called. There is enough electricity in this country. You can do that with the surplus of electricity you use.”
In March 2018, Belarus announced that it had liberalized parts of its Soviet-style economy and approved cryptocurrency mining and related activities to attract foreign investors and stimulate private sector growth.
In 2019,
Lukashenko said that cryptocurrency mining can be done with increased energy at the nuclear power plant in the Grodno region, right next to the border with Lithuania.
