Dmitriy Peskov Reminded That Countries Should Pay In Rubles
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitriy Peskov once again reminded that countries should pay in rubles for the continuation of gas delivery.
Peskov emphasized that
gas deliveries to countries that do not agree to pay in rubles will stop when the payment deadline comes.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitriy Peskov made a press statement in the capital Moscow. Making evaluations about stopping gas deliveries to Bulgaria and Poland, which do not accept to pay in rubles, Peskov said that the same situation may be valid for other countries as well.
Stating that Russia is a secure supplier and continues to adhere to its contractual obligations, Peskov said, "The new payment terms, the need for this new methodology arose from unprecedented hostile steps in the economy and finance sector. They blocked a significant amount of our reserves, more succinctly stated. To be honest, they stole it. All of this necessitated the transition to a new payment system.”
Saying that they did not accept the accusations that Russia was blackmailing,
Peskov said, "All the new conditions have been notified to customers in advance. If the customers refuse to pay with the new system when the payment date for natural gas comes, the presidential decree takes effect. The correct form of payment forms the basis for the continuation of deliveries."
