According to the news in Bernamama; Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakup is considering importing wheat flour from Turkey to increase food import sources.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakup is thinking of getting wheat flour imports from Turkey as he seeks to increase his food import sources due to rising global food prices, Malaysian national news agency Bernamama reported.
Yakup, who arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday for a four-day visit, said food security was one of the main issues in his talks with Turkish industry leaders.
The war between Russia and Ukraine, the world's top wheat and corn growers, and India's decision to restrict wheat exports have put pressure on supplies, Prime Minister Yakup said, stressing that Malaysia continues to provide subsidies to support consumers facing rising living costs.
Malaysia sources 80 percent of its wheat from Australia and the rest from the United States, Canada and Ukraine.
